Martha Kathleen Pounders
Martha Kathleen Pounders, 75, of Tishomingo, Mississippi, died Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at her residence.
She was a lifelong Methodist and a member of Paradise Church. The members of Paradise Church were very special to her. Kathleen also enjoyed visiting Mt Glory Baptist Church and worshipping there. She was a member of the Tishomingo High School Class of 1968 and attended Northeast Junior College. After attending Northeast, Kathleen worked at Kaydee Metals in Belmont, Mississippi as an accounts receivable clerk until the year 1980 when she became a mother and housewife. She devoted her life to the care of her family, and her family was her greatest joy.
Kathleen grew up on a farm and loved all animals. She often talked about playing with piglets as a child. She loved her cows and caring for them, especially when she had a group of calves to feed. Her cat, Tippah Ann, was her constant companion in her later years and they had an extraordinary bond. Kathleen loved gospel and country music. She especially enjoyed attending the Paradise 4th Friday Night Singing each month. She would always say after each singing that it was the best one ever. George Strait was her absolute favorite country music artist, and she attended many of his concerts during her lifetime. Kathleen loved visiting the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina in the fall with her family. She made many wonderful memories there.
Kathleen enjoyed gardening and preserving the many vegetables and fruits from her efforts. She would say she couldn’t cook, but she was being modest. Anyone who had ever eaten at her table would disagree. Her specialty was fried Tennessee River catfish and muscadine cobblers.
Her sister Shirley was her oldest friend. Everywhere they would go together someone would comment ‘here comes trouble”. Kathleen was the youngest and she always said she learned how to be good because she saw how much Shirley got into trouble. They loved watching football together and always cheered for their Mississippi State Bulldogs and Kansas City Chiefs. Kathleen loved her only niece Elizabeth like a daughter. Elizabeth’s husband Michael, she loved as if he were her son. She had a very special relationship with her great niece Taylor who she cared for as a baby.
Kathleen married Tommy Pounders on March 5, 1971. He was the love of her life. She often joked about how he asked her to go out with him 3 times and she kept turning him down before she said yes just to get him to stop asking her out. They were inseparable and made a great team. They built their life together and her heart was broken when he went to be with the Lord in 2016. She never stopped loving and missing him. They had one daughter together, Melissa. Melissa was her best friend and partner in crime. Kathleen was known as “Pickles” by Melissa. She passed on her love of animals, family and God to her daughter. They had a special bond as a mother and daughter. Each of them would have done absolutely anything for the other.
Kathleen is survived by her only daughter, Melissa Gail Pounders of Tishomingo, MS; one sister, Shirley Loader of Tishomingo, MS; one niece Elizabeth Floyd and husband Michael Floyd of Tishomingo, MS; one great niece, Taylor Floyd of Tishomingo, MS, very special family friends, Tommy, Stacy and Cassie Floyd of Tishomingo, MS, and many cousins who she was especially close to.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Pounders; her parents Otha and Mattie Faye Edmondson, an infant brother Virgil Lionel Edmondson, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law Talmadge and Avoe Pounders.

Richard G. “Rick” Grisham, 70, of Iuka, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 18, 2026, after a long battle with his health.
Rick was a great man that loved his family, his friends, and his sports. He was proud of his hard work and athleticism and even prouder that it passed down to his children and grandchildren. He was athletic his entire young adult life, but he was a star athlete and played college football for Northeast MS Community College and Millsaps College, where he was inducted into the Millsaps Football Hall of Fame. During his time in college, Rick made many friends, and most of those friendships lasted his entire life and were deeply cherished. Rick’s greatest accomplishment in life was his family.
He met the love of his life, Vicky, in 1977, married her in 1978, and started their family in 1979. Their journey began with their daughter, Jami, who kept him on his toes from a young age. He started and coached a youth softball league for her in Iuka that is still active today. Throughout the years, he took great joy in seeing her excel in her academic and work life, and his respect for her grew every time he saw her fierce personality and bravery shine. Once Rick and Vicky welcomed their son, Jesse, their pride and happiness only grew. Rick was very involved with his son’s athletic career and advocated for him every step of the way. While Jesse was young, Rick started coaching him and even played a large role in combining the Iuka and Burnsville peewee football league. Throughout high school and college, he pushed Jesse and supported him and made sure he found every opportunity he could to succeed, which he did. As his children got married, Rick gladly welcomed his new in-laws. Wesley, his son-in-law, was a joy to have around, especially in Rick’s final days when he’d helped him through his illness. He also loved his daughter-in-law, Mikayla, like one of his own and was so pleased that his son found such a great woman to love and care for him. His grandchildren being born introduced him to a new kind of love and adoration. They were the lights of his life, and he constantly bragged on them. He loved watching Mattie Claire at her pageants or dance performances and Clay at his sports and school activities. He was so excited seeing who they were growing up to be and never missed a chance to spend time with them and the family. After moving back to MS, Rick was at peace knowing he had gotten his Vicky home, and some of his best times in life were spent on the back porch relaxing with her.
Rick is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Vicky Grisham; his children, Jami Orick (Wesley) and Jesse Grisham (Mikayla); his grandchildren, Mattie Claire Orick and Clayton Orick; his siblings, Jimmy Grisham (Betty) and Martha Jane Grisham Diana; his sister-in-law, Darlene Cox (John); his brother-in-law, Bruce Ward (Tammie); his aunt, Dianne Biddle; his mother-in-law, Mamie Ward; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jane and Billy Grisham; and his special aunt and uncle, Bobby and Shelby Grisham.
Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS, is entrusted with the arrangements. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel. William Matthew “Matt” Dexter was born March 7, 1975, and departed this life April 8, 2026.
Matt seldom met a stranger. Even in failing health, he kept in touch with those who shared a love for a man that saw good in everyone. In a world of conflict and discord, Matt had an innate ability to be in harmony with his surroundings. He did not focus on things that could bring him down. Instead, he tried to move through life with respect and compassion for his fellow man. Life for Matt was far from easy, but he never complained nor did he blame others for his plight. He took each day as it came with a smile reflecting the one in his heart. To know Matt was to love him. What you saw was real and how he treated others was with kindness.
Eleanor Roosevelt so eloquently wrote, “Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends leave footprints in your heart.” For those who knew Matt as a friend, he left his mark that will serve us all well to follow.
Matt is survived by his son, William “Brody” Dexter (Carly); his mother, Theresa Rainey (Billy); his sister, Dawn Laster (Brad); his two other special sisters, Ferrin Calvert (Keith) and Carlynn Crawford (Jeff); his nieces and nephews, Tyler Smith (Jenna), Taylor LaFever (Hunter), and Jaxson Laster; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Tatum Smith, Baylor LaFever, Kohen Smith, Bennett LaFever, and Charlie Grace LaFever; his uncle, W.J. Deese (Linda); and a host of other loved family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Stanley Dexter; his grandparents, W.T. and Betty Dexter and Willard R. and Juanita Deese; and his uncles, Havis R. Deese and Nolan Lee Deese.

Louise Charbauski, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away on April 23, 2026, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi.
Born on March 11, 1963, in Sheffield, Alabama, Louise spent her life cherishing moments with those she loved most. Louise’s greatest pride and joy was her family, whom she held close to her heart. She was the devoted wife of 27 years to Jerry Charbauski, standing by his side as they shared countless memories. She and Jerry were often seen photographing Lady Braves Basketball, among other local events that brought their community together.
A loving mother, Louise is survived by her son, Anthony Allred, and his wife Samantha, as well as her daughters, Tenika Allred and Hayley Charbauski. Her heart was further enriched by a host of grandchildren and other family members who brought immeasurable joy to her days. Family was the center of her world, and she loved tending to her flower garden, spending time cherishing her grandchildren, and being outdoors. She especially found simple happiness in the ritual of burning her leaves, embracing the peacefulness of nature’s rhythms.
Louise was also blessed with the companionship of her brothers, James Smith and his wife Regina, and Roy Smith and his wife Angie, along with her sister, Janell Felker and her husband Wayne. Her loving spirit extended to her cherished fur babies—Buttercup, Rose, Oreo, and Daisey—who were part of her daily comfort and joy.
Though deeply mourned, Louise’s memory shines brilliantly in the hearts of her living family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her dear parents, Roy Edward and Edna Marcell Smith, and her brother, Robert Smith. Their legacies live on in the love and strength she carried throughout her life.
Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS is entrusted with the arrangements. A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed immediately by a funeral service at 3:00 PM at Cutshall Funeral Home – Iuka, located at 302 North Pearl Street, Iuka, Mississippi, officiated by Bro. Through every moment spent photographing, gardening, or simply enjoying the outdoors, Louise left an indelible mark of love and warmth. She taught those who knew her the beauty of family, the joy of simple pleasures, and the power of quiet strength. Though she has departed, her spirit remains forever in the laughter of her grandchildren, the gentle breeze through her flower garden, and the loving memories shared by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
