The Belmont Coffee Company, a downtown favorite that has quickly become a cornerstone of the community, is beginning a new chapter. Founders Jessica and Andy announced this week that they are passing ownership of the shop to a familiar face — longtime team member Bailee Blakney.
“When we opened this place, our dream did not touch what we are now,” Jessica shared. “Belmont shows up and shows out, and for that we remain incredibly grateful. But we will be honest — you’ve outgrown us. This business is bigger and better than Andy and I could have ever imagined, and it keeps on growing.”
After much prayer and discussion, the couple said they knew it was time to hand the reins to someone who not only knows the shop inside and out, but has also played a pivotal role in its growth since the beginning.
Blakney, who has been behind many of the shop’s creative specialty drinks and seasonal menus, officially stepped into ownership this week. Jessica said the choice felt natural. “Bailee’s creativity in products, social media, and leadership is like no other. We could not have asked for a better person to take over this very special dream.”
Though customers may not see Jessica and Andy behind the counter as often, the two assured the community they won’t be far. They plan to continue supporting the shop with their creative vision, just from a different perspective.
For Blakney, the transition is both exciting and humbling. She and her husband, Hunter, along with their children Evan and Ella, are eager to continue the work that Jessica and Andy started. “I’m excited to continue this wonderful business that they have brought to our small town of Belmont,” Blakney said. “Thank you for the love and support I’ve been shown in taking on this new business adventure. I’m looking forward to getting to know my new customers!”
Blakney is already planning seasonal drinks for fall while continuing to keep a hand in her family’s other business, The Fish Place. “I’m not leaving the Fish Place,” she joked. “You’ll still see me there on weekends slinging catfish.”
As Belmont Coffee Company steps into this new season, both the founders and the new owner agree on one thing — the shop remains deeply rooted in community, creativity, and a love for the town that made it possible.
