
George Douglas Hardwick
George Douglas Hardwick, 82, of Burnsville, MS, passed away on September 26, 2025, at Magnolia Regional Health Center. Funeral services are set for Thursday, October 2, at 11:00 AM at Magnolia Funeral Home East Chapel, with interment in Love Joy Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 1, from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Bro. Jon Haimes and Bro. Rayborn Richardson will officiate. Pallbearers include Brian Powers, Chris Creasy, John Nunley, John Purvis, Brian Hardwick, and Timmy Gandy.
Born on February 13, 1942, to Douglas and Ara Hardwick, George was deeply loved by his sister, Onie, who was always by his side. He graduated from Glen School, where he played basketball. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and, in his younger years, water skiing.
After high school, George trained as a heavy machine operator. Drafted in 1966, he served in Vietnam as an Army Engineer, where exposure to Agent Orange later led to significant health issues.
In 1990, he married the love of his life, Gail Hardwick. They shared 40 years of marriage, enjoying the outdoors and rodeos, and raising their son, Charles Douglas Hardwick.
George was a proud supporter of Tishomingo County High School Lady Braves, a wrestling fan, and a member of Alabama Fishers of Men and Lake Runners Bass Fishing. Even as his health declined, he continued tinkering with lawn mowers and working outdoors as much as he could.
He is survived by his son, Charles Hardwick (Ali); grandchildren, Heather Parrish, Kyle Parrish and Lexxis Powell; nephew, Buddy Wiggington, niece, Barbara Ann Woodruff ; special friend, Estelle Wright; other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Gail Hardwick; father, Doug Hardwick; mother, Ara Hardwick and his sister, Onie Wigginton.

Myra Jane Page
Myra Jane Page, 93, of Cherokee, Alabama, passed away Monday, September 29, 2025, in her home.
Myra was born in Homestead, FL, on April 24, 1932, to the late Dillon Emmitt Bashor and Effie Hennington Bashor. In 1992 at the age of 60, she moved to Margerum, AL, and stayed there until her passing. She was a member of the Margerum Community Church and loved the church and the many wonderful friends she made there. While Myra kept books for her husband Joe’s furniture business for over 20 years, she was also happily a housewife and mother. She was very talented in many ways but especially so in her China painting and needlepoint.
Myra is survived by her children, Dave Page (Joy) and Cindy Earle; her grandchildren, Rebecca Raciborski (Rafal), Samantha Earle, Dana Page (Tony), James Earle, and Mallory Earle; her great-grandchildren, John-John Barry and Malcom Dominic; and a host of other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Joe M. Page; her parents, Effie Hennington and Dillon Emmitt Bashor; and her sister, Marie Buckley.

Tommy McAnally
Tommy McAnally, age 72, of Burnsville, Mississippi, will be honored in a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 29, 2025, at Magnolia Funeral Home – East. Interment will follow at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. A man of steadfast faith, Tommy was a devoted member of Oakland Baptist Church, where he once sang in the choir of the original sanctuary—a memory cherished. Tommy found joy in the simple pleasures of life: the quiet thrill of hunting, the satisfaction of restoring old cars, and cheering on his favorite teams—the St. Louis Cardinals and the Ole Miss Rebels. But above all, his heart belonged to his family. His children and grandchildren were his greatest pride, and of all the titles he held throughout his life, none meant more to him than “PawPaw.” He will be remembered for his warmth, his devotion, and the legacy of love he leaves behind. Those left to honor Tommy’s memory include his sons, Jacob McAnally (Crystal), and Ian McAnally; daughter, Lydia Lambert (Lyonel); grandchildren, Liam Lambert, Lily Beth Lambert, Linley Lambert, Lottie Lambert, Lila Lambert, Caitlyn Willis, Julie White (Zane), Clara Willis, and Conner Willis; great grandchildren, Oliver Hulen, Phoebe Martin, Presleigh White, and Ruby White; mother, Helen Phifer McAnally; brothers, Timmy McAnally, Tony McAnally (Tonya), Stevie McAnally (Tammy); sisters, Kathy Bobo (Vernon), Sherry Sparks (Gerry), Vickie McGee (Steve), and Connie Smith (Mike); numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. James Larry Solomon, Sr.
James Larry Solomon, Sr. was born on September 21, 1942, in Iuka, Mississippi. He lived a fulfilling life, having dedicated 50 years to the Boot Industry, where he had the opportunity to work in various locations around the world. For 35 of those years, he was a valued employee at Genesco, contributing his skills and expertise to the company.
James passed away on October 12, 2025, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He is remembered for his strong work ethic and the passion he brought to his career. Beyond his professional life, James cherished his family deeply. He is survived by his daughter, Courtney Solomon, and his beloved grandchildren, Helayna Long and Madyson Russell. James also leaves behind his brother, Earl Solomon, along with his sister-in-law, Donna.
James was preceded in death by his parents, John and Minnie Christine Edmondson Solomon; his sister, Barbara Solomon; and his brother, John Thomas Solomon.

June Annette Freeman
June Annette Freeman, 76, of Iuka, MS, passed away on October 9, 2025, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Born on November 11, 1948, in Memphis, TN, she was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was known for her generous nature and love for family. June attended Trinity Baptist Church in Counce, TN, and enjoyed fishing and camping.
June is survived by her four children, Dana Taylor (Tim), Joshua Wallis (Anthony), Jason Wallis, and Shea Freeman (Jocelyn); one brother, David Rushing; five sisters, Linda Herring, Fredna Owens, Virginia Laminack, Donnah Turner, and Jeannie Guiseppe; six grandchildren, Austin Farmer, Dylan Farmer, Luke Wallis, Olivia Wallis, Madison Frahler, and Emily Griffin; and seven great-grandchildren. Wilma E. “Pat” Embrey
Wilma E. “Pat” Embrey, 84, of Iuka, MS, a favored daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, and friend to all who knew her, passed away on October 9, 2025, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, MS. Born on March 17, 1941, in Itawamba County, she was affectionately nicknamed “Pat” by her grandfather due to her St. Patrick’s Day birthday.
Pat was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and she found delight in picking Buttercups in the Spring. She also enjoyed reading and watching Westerns on television. Her commitment to her faith was evident, having accepted Christ into her heart at the age of 14. She lived a lifetime dedicated to serving her Savior as a longtime member of New Salem Baptist Church, where she was also a former Sunday School teacher. She was retired from Wal Mart in Corinth.
Pat leaves behind her siblings: Thelma “Sis” Wynn, Carol Tomlin (Bill), Jim Embrey (Shirley), Linda Embrey, and Joyce Embrey, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Erskine and Evelyn Gipson Embrey; two brothers, Erskine E. “Sonny” Embrey and Roy Embrey; and two nephews, Jimmie “Jimbo” Brown and Michael Brown.

Bonnie Faye Stricklen, 84, of Burnsville, Mississippi, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at her home. Bonnie was a very active member of Southwest Baptist Church in Burnsville for a long time. Her faith played a huge role in her life, and she loved her church. If the doors were open, she was there being involved in any way she could. She was an incredibly kind and caring woman, and her spunky personality made her perfect for her career as a home health Nursing Assistant, which she did for over 20 years. Bonnie liked to stay busy, so she had many hobbies, including cooking, gardening, traveling, and painting. Most of all, however, she loved spending time with her family. She took any chance she got to see them and always wanted to be around her grandchildren. Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Sheila Crawford; her grandchildren, Corey Gist, Catie Stricklen Rodgers, Kayla Vaughn, Dallas Stricklen Wilkerson, and Olivia Stricklen Vanderford; her great-grandsons, Jax, Easton, Jase, Asher, and Ace; her sister, Betty Phillips (Arnold); and a host of other family members and friends. Bonnie Wright Dill
Bonnie Wright Dill, born on May 24, 1951, in Mississippi, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 27, 2025, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She leaves behind a legacy of love, support, and commitment, deeply woven into the lives of her family and friends.
Bonnie embarked on her professional journey after graduating from Burnsville High School, where she excelled academically as Valedictorian and was celebrated as Miss BHS 1969. Her early career began as a paralegal for esteemed attorneys Richard Clark and Steve Jackson in Iuka. After taking a brief hiatus to devote herself to being a stay-at-home mother, she returned to the workforce as a clerk at Dill’s Grocery and finished her career as an accounting clerk at Alcorn Industries in Corinth, Mississippi. Throughout her career, she demonstrated unwavering determination and a strong work ethic that inspired those around her.
Bonnie was a proud supporter of her grandchildren, celebrating each milestone and participating in all their activities with joyful enthusiasm. Her personality was vibrant and inviting, characterized by her love for Jesus, her family, her friends, and her country. She was also a fervent fan of the Burnsville Mustangs, Tishomingo County Braves, and the Ole Miss Rebels, proudly cheering for her teams.
Her hobbies brought her immense joy. Bonnie cherished traveling, enjoying pool days, and spending quality time with her grandchildren. She also loved her “Girls Night Out,” and found delight in games of Rummy, dominoes, and croquet.
Bonnie’s faith and community involvement were significant aspects of her life. She was a charter member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Burnsville, MS, where she contributed her time and spirit to serve others.
She is survived by her children, Alisha Dill Whitaker (Heath), Melanie Dill Tapp (Jon), and Shandy Dill (Lindsey), as well as her cherished grandchildren, Tanner Whitaker (Annalee), Brady Whitaker (Jacqueline), Avery Tapp, Cooper Tapp, Charlie Dill, and Mabrie Dill. She is also survived by her siblings, Robert Allen Wright, Randall Wright, Linda Holland, Betty Hardwick, and Roger Wright (Maryann), along with sisters-in-law Sue Dill, Donna Dill, and Diane Wright, and several nieces and nephews.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Lynn Dill, and her parents, Robert and Celeste Wright. She also joins her siblings, Jerry Wright and Frankie Wright, in eternal rest.

Charles Bishop Jr. Obituary
Charles Odis Bishop Jr. age 83, of Cherokee, Alabama passed away Friday, October 24, 2025. Charles was a man of many talents and a lifelong farmer and outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, discussing history, piddling, raising cows, and gardening. A true jack of all trades and a positive thinker, he loved working on John Deere tractors and was known as a skilled mechanic. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family and especially enjoyed visiting with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sarah Wigginton Bishop; children, Greg Bishop (Bethany), Kathy Bishop Gann, Terry “Boogie” Wigginton and Elesha Wigginton; affectionately known as “Poppa”, grandchildren, Keith Gann (Kristen), Katie Tipton (Adam), and Milli Bishop; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Kate Tipton, Lucy Gann, Lincoln Tipton, and Lottie Gann; and his special hunting buddy and brother-in-law, Melvin Pounders.

Steven Leon Ward
Steven Leon Ward, 71, born December 31, 1953, in Bruce, Miss, Calhoun County; of Bartlett, Tenn passed away Monday, October 6, 2025, at Magnolia Creek Nursing Home in Covington, Tenn of heart problems.
He was the son of the late Paul Leon Ward and the late Johnnie Faye (Lambert) Ward (who died at Steven’s birth). He grew up in Memphis, Tenn, graduated from Sheffield High School. He was an active member of Oakville Memorial/Eastwood Baptist Church where he was saved and baptized.
He joined the US Army and served honorably. Coming home, he lived in Iuka, Miss, and ran a lawn care business, later moving to Tunica, Miss, working in law enforcement and was a member of Tunica Baptist Church.
He is survived by his adoptive mother, Anne (Castleberry) Ward, his sister Paula (Ward) Hedgepeth and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Wayne Ward, his brother Rodney Burt Ward; his grandparents, Harrison and Maudie (Marley) Lambert, Lonnie and Omie (Aston) Ward and Jopp and Lollie (Miles) Castleberry.
