I’ll See You at the Movies – Superman

James Gunn’s Superman is exactly what the character—and the genre—needed: a triumphant return to hope, heart, and heroism. With a perfect balance of reverence for Superman’s mythos and a refreshing modern perspective, Gunn delivers a cinematic triumph that soars higher than fans could have hoped for.

David Corenswet steps confidently into the cape, bringing warmth, humility, and quiet strength to Clark Kent. He doesn’t just play Superman, he embodies him. His performance strikes the delicate balance between alien power and Kansas-bred humanity, reminding us why Superman is the beating heart of the DC Universe.

Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane is equally electric sharp, fearless, and endlessly watchable. The chemistry between Lois and Clark crackles with classic energy but feels contemporary and authentic. Every scene between them hums with emotion and wit.

Gunn’s direction is inspired, blending his trademark style, sharp dialogue, offbeat humor, and emotional sincerity with earnestness rarely seen in superhero films today. He strips away the cynicism and delivers a story that celebrates the best of us, anchored by sweeping visuals, a stirring score, and a script that wears its optimism proudly.

Supporting players shine as well, with a fresh take on Lex Luthor and a strong ensemble of Daily Planet regulars, DC cameos, and future-world-building without losing focus on Clark’s personal journey.

More than just an original story or a reboot, Superman is a statement. It’s a reminder that hope is not outdated, that kindness is still a superpower, and that even in the age of antiheroes, there’s still room and a deep need for a genuine symbol of good. A thrilling, heartfelt, and inspiring return for the world’s first superhero. James Gunn’s Superman doesn’t just save the day it saves the future of the genre. I give this film three and a half stars out of four. Go check it out!

Now for the important part…THE SNACK BAR! We couldn’t help but get a couple of cold drinks this week while we watched the movie under the stars. They have so many options for food and drinks that sometimes it’s hard to decide! Maybe you should just try everything?

I would like to thank the Iuka Drive-In for hosting me once again. I would also like to thank the Tishomingo County News for allowing me to do what I love! I’ll see you at the movies!
