Carlile Wright, 85, died Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Iuka Hospital. He was born in Allsboro, AL to Woodrow Wright and Ida Mae Berryman Wright. He was a chemical operator at Cherokee Nitrogen for over fifty years and attended Tishomingo Methodist Church.
Services will be Tuesday, April 1, 1 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Belmont, MS with Bro. Steve Kennedy officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 1, 11-1 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS. Burial will be in Tishomingo City Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by a daughter, Pattie Day; grandchildren, Hannah Ayers (Chandler), Kaid Wright and Karlie Wright; great-grandchild, Addison Farris; sisters, Martha Rose Murphy (Terry) and Geneva Henderson and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Wright; son, Tim Wright; granddaughter, Kelsey Wright and sister, Joan Pounders.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Lindsey, James Crowell, Chandler Ayers, Doug Nunley, Tony Orrick and Stevie Orrick. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Barnes, Eddie Nunley and Tommy Nunley.

Carol Lee Page
Carol Lee Page, 83, of Fulton, Mississippi, passed away peacefully surrounded by those who loved her on Thursday, March 27th, 2025, at the Meadows of Fulton. She was born in the winter of 1941 in Missouri to Wendell and Ruth Humphrey. In August of 1957, she married Billy Gene Page, and they shared 55 wonderful years together until his passing in 2013. In September of 1964, Carol was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and very zealously showed her faith by working good towards all. She displayed love without prejudice and always sought out opportunities to give a helping hand. As a talented seamstress, Carol worked for Blue Bell Manufacturing until its closing. She later became a successful entrepreneur by operating a cleaning service for over 35 years in Iuka, Belmont, and Tishomingo areas, while simultaneously providing nutrition products through Reliv.
She had a passion for crafting, especially sewing, and found great joy in creating beautiful pieces with her hands. Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by family, particularly at family reunions. Known affectionately as “Aunt Carol,” she was a loving and generous presence in the lives of all that knew her. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family, congregation, and friends will be deeply missed.
Carol was survived by her two sons, Billy Austin Page and his wife, Melissa, of Tuscumbia, Alabama, and Bobby Page of Tishomingo, Mississippi; three grandchildren, Michael Page of Tuscumbia, Jeremy Page of Belmont, and Laken Ziarko and her husband, Zack, of Belmont; seven great grandchildren; four siblings, Eleanor Johnston, Mary Charlotte Lines, Clyde Humphrey, and Marc Humphrey; her close niece, Rachel Reimink, and numerous other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wendell and Ruth Humphrey; husband, Billy Gene Page; grandson, Kevin Page; and one brother, Lou Humphrey.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 5th, 2025, at the Country Gentlemen Venue located at 10302 Hwy 25 South in Fulton, MS. Visitation will begin at 1PM, with memorial services starting at 2PM. Celebration of life and fellowship will follow.

She loved spending time with her family and loving on her grandbabies. Gale Jerome Parson (Jerry) and Minnie Sue Parson (Sue)
Gale Jerome Parson (Jerry) and Minnie Sue Parson (Sue) passed away just days apart, a testament to the deep love they shared throughout their 65 years of marriage. Jerry, 88, passed on February 28, 2025, followed by Sue, 88, on March 3, 2025.
Jerry and Sue were inseparable, always holding hands and staying close to one another. He was her protector. They were known for their constant affection, whether through a gentle touch, a loving glance, or a shared smile that reflected the deep bond they nurtured throughout their 65 years together. They built a beautiful life together filled with love, family, and cherished memories. In their dedication to the Lord, their faith was the foundation of their lives, and they found great joy in singing hymns together.
Jerry was born March 23, 1936, in Iuka, Mississippi to Looney and Hazel Parsons. He was a devoted family man who approached life with focus, discipline, and a deep sense of responsibility. A proud veteran, he served his country with honor before transitioning to helping others as a registered nurse. Jerry was truly a jack of all trades, always willing to tackle any challenge and learn something new. His strong work ethic and orderly nature were evident in everything he did, whether in his work, his home, or his countless acts of service. He never missed an opportunity to help others, and his generosity and commitment to others left a lasting impact on all who knew him. He was also a man of strong opinions who loved a good debate, always encouraging those around him to think critically. Unapologetically himself, he lived life with authenticity and purpose, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, love, and service.
Sue was born May 4, 1936, in Houston, Mississippi to Chester and Ethel McGee. She had a joy inside her that was truly contagious. Her lighthearted, playful attitude and infectious laugh could brighten any room, bringing warmth and happiness to those around her. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family, whether gathering around the table enjoying a home-cooked meal or engaging in a friendly game of cards. Her home was always filled with love, laughter, and the comforting aroma of her delicious cooking. Sue lived to serve her family, always available to lend a helping hand, whether in times of need or simply out of love. Her selfless care and commitment were given freely and joyfully, never hesitating to make sure her loved ones felt taken care of. She had a special way of making everyone feel welcome, and her kindness and joy will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
Jerry and Sue are survived by their loving daughter Suzzan Plumb; grandchildren they cherished, Ashley (Ben) Massey, Heather (Tommy) Wagner, Shelley (Russ) Powers, Christy Masaro, Stephanie (Dustin) Berry, Brittany Masaro, Zachary (Beth) Plumb, Skyler (Felicia) Parson; 16 precious great-grandchildren; Jerry’s siblings, Joy Bitterman and Joe (Becky) Parsons; and Sue’s siblings, Marlene Ware and Patsy Moore.
They were preceded in death by Jerry’s parents and 4 siblings, Sue’s parents and 8 siblings, daughter Shyanna Masaro, son Jerome Parson, and grandson Tyler Parson.
A joint visitation will be held at 1:00 PM, followed by a service at 2:00 PM on April 12, 2025, at Sardis Baptist Church, County Road 169, Iuka, Mississippi, 38852, where family and friends will gather to celebrate their lives and their love story. Their final resting place will be at Sardis Church Cemetery.

John Whitner Young
John Whitner Young, 63, born on September 6, 1961, in Oxford, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at his home in Iuka, Mississippi, on Monday, March 31, 2025. John graduated from Iuka High School in 1979 and had been a devoted member of Iuka Baptist Church since he was a teenager. He worked as a lead hand at G&G Steel for 16 years and enjoyed spending his time off outdoors. He was an avid outdoorsman that loved hunting for deer and Indian artifacts. He was a member of the Central States Archeology Society and the Genuine Indian Relic Society, and his finds and different displays got him recognized many times throughout the years in the societies’ books and shows. Along with his Indian artifacts, he also enjoyed collecting Iuka and Pickwick memorabilia that he kept displayed in his home. Above all else, however, John loved his family. His grandson was his whole world, and he was incredibly proud to be his grandfather. He never missed a chance to brag about him and show off his pictures. John is survived by his daughter, Whitney Young Works (Garrett); his stepson, Jay Lambert; his grandson, Bennett Hayes Works; and a host of other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Mae Young Hayes; his father, John Henry Young, Jr.; and his grandparents, Raymer “Mama Whit” Wilson, John Whitner “Daddy Whit” Wilson, Linnie Young, and John Henry Young, Sr.; and his cousin, Mike Wilson. Richard “Rick” Wixom
Richard “Rick” Wixom, 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 30th, surrounded by his family. Born on February 16, 1952, in Pensacola, Florida, Rick lived in various places throughout his life, including California, Hawaii, Japan (where he graduated from high school in 1970) and Tennessee, before making his home in Mississippi.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a faithful member of his community.
Rick was preceded in death by parents, George and Mary Wixom, and brother Patrick Wixom of Savannah, TN.
In his early life, Rick proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a corpsman. He later continued his service as a member of the National Guard. After leaving military service, Rick worked as a mail carrier and retired from the United States Postal Service after many years of dedication.
Known for his distinctive mustache, Rick was a man of honesty, integrity, and unwavering faith. He was a committed member of the Church of Christ, where he devoted much of his time to mission work in Guyana and to a local jail ministry. His commitment to serving others was a hallmark of his life.
An avid outdoorsman, Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping, and he was always at home astride a horse. He loved music, westerns, and playing the guitar. His love for nature was surpassed only by his love of God, his family, and his country. He played many roles and was known by many names but nothing made him more proud than being called Poppy.
Rick is survived by wife of 42 years, Linda. His children Brian Wixom; Bradley Wixom and his wife Dawn; Katie and her husband Eric; Veronica Degraw; Richard Williams; grandchildren, Holly Steen(Brandon), Megan Owens(Josh), Anna Kellogg(Kip), Emily Stafford(Jacob), Neil Wixom, Izzy Miles, Robbie Wixom, Levi Miles; great grandchildren, Benjamin Stafford, Jude Steen, BrookLyn Owens, Kinsley Kellogg, Ava Steen, Mila Kate Stafford, Jaxson Owens, Jonah Owens, and Nicholas Kellogg; niece Calista Burleson; cousin Kreg Headrick.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 1st, at Berea Church of Christ with visiting hours beginning at 12:00 pm. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the victim fund of Hurricane Helene.

Hazel Gene Jourdan Mathis Spear
Hazel Gene Jourdan Mathis Spear peacefully passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 98. She was born on Tuesday, August 10, 1926, in Prentiss, Mississippi to the late John W. and Jeanettie Dobbs Jourdan. She was a resident of Hammond, Louisiana.
Throughout her life, Gene wore many hats, working various jobs with grace and determination. Gene was a devoted homemaker and a master gardener with a magical touch, she could plant a simple stick in the ground and somehow make it bloom. Full of spirit and sass, Gene had a flair for life; she never missed a day of doing her hair and makeup and adored her blingy jewelry.
Her faith was unwavering, and her love for the Lord guided her throughout her life. Gene was a proud and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, whose warmth touched generations. She was deeply loved by all who knew her, and while she will be profoundly missed, her family celebrates the long, beautiful life she lived and the joy she brought to all who knew her.

Mackie passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo, MS and was born on September 25, 1932 in Burnsville, MS to the late Cody and Alma Powers Lambert.
She attended Freedom Baptist Church and was a former owner of Otasco in Iuka. Mackie found immense joy in her personal life. She was particularly fond of spending time in her yard and took great pride in her family, each of whom she held dear. It was often said that everyone believed they were her favorite, a testament to the boundless affection she extended to all those she loved. Her legacy will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Mrs. Gann is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Counce (Mark); her daughter-in-law, Donna Gann; her grandchildren, Shane Carman (Carly), Jennifer Williams (Jason), Reid Gann, and Jenny Farris (Dustin); her great grandchildren, Alec Carman (Emilee), Curt Carman, Myli Cate Carman, Rylan Williams, Braden Williams, and Caitlin Williams; her great, great grandchild, Parker Klaire Carman; her brother, Mickey Lambert (Barbara); her sister-in-law, Althea Lambert, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Robert D. Maxwell
Robert D. Maxwell, 68, of Tishomingo, MS, passed on April 3rd, 2025, at NMMC hospice in Tupelo.
An informal service will be held on Saturday, April 12th, with visitors welcomed from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home in Belmont.
Robert was born in Waukegan, IL, on the 14th of November 1956, to the late Bobby & Dorothy (Thompson) Maxwell. He was the middle child with one older sister, the late Sandra Leathers, and one younger brother, Wayne Maxwell (Connie).
Robert married the love of his life, Helen (Gasaway) Maxwell, in 1978. Many people told them both it would never last, but they had the last laugh as they shared over 46 years happily married. In addition to being a devoted husband, he was a loving father to his two daughters, Christy Shotts (Rocky) & Kim George (Ben), two stepdaughters, the late Sandy Lambert (Bob) & Debbie Garrison, and pawpaw to six grandchildren, Kylie Shotts, Bo Shotts, Letasha Horne (Jonathan), TJ Hardin, Michael Lambert, & Jeffery Lambert, and eight great-grandchildren.
Throughout his life, Robert was always a hard worker and learned many trades. He was an entrepreneur, plumber, cabinet maker, electrician, BBQ chef, and carpenter, to name just a few. If he didn’t know how to do something, it was only a matter of time until he learned and mastered it. He and his wife built and ran Rob’s Self Service gas station in Tishomingo for many years before he went to work at JESCO M&E out of Tupelo. He worked there as a superintendent for 19 years and later with Ivey Mechanical Company, from which he retired in 2020.
Robert enjoyed fishing, cooking barbecue, and loved working with his hands and building things. Woodworking was a favorite pastime, as can be seen around his and Helen’s home. From the large gazebo beside the house overlooking a stone waterfall to the detailed wooden coffee table in the living room and thousands of other projects, both big and small.
While Robert will be dearly missed by those he leaves behind, his memory lives on in each of them.
Ralph Lambert

Billy Wayne Storment
IUKA, Miss – Billy Wayne Storment, 90, of Iuka, Mississippi, died on April 12, 2025, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Iuka.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Billy honored his country with service before embarking on a career with the Tennessee Valley Authority. He retired after thirty years, during which he worked as a Unit Operator. A passionate traveler, he embraced the freedom of the open road in his RV, alongside his beloved wife, Teresa G. Storment, who preceded him in death. Together, they traversed all 48 continental states. Billy also enjoyed fishing and genealogy.
He is survived by his children, Doug Storment (Sandy), Ed Storment (Diana), and Renee Storment; his grandchildren, Taylor Alling (Rocky), David Storment, Amanda Bonds (Dillon), and Brian Anglin (LeAnne); and his great-grandchildren, Cooper Alling, Brooks Alling, Chance Bonds, and Madison Bonds. He is also survived by a sister, Laura Storment, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born December 17, 1962, in Lafayette, LA., Mrs. Brown passed from this life on April 10, 2025, at her home in Burnsville, MS. She was of the Christian faith and was a retired Inventory Specialist for Scan Scape. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed cooking, traveling to both the mountains and the ocean and sitting outside star gazing.

TISHOMINGO, MS – Edna Ruth Gattis Durham Hamby, 100, passed away at Tishomingo Community Living Center on April 10, 2025. She was a wonderful, kind person who will be missed by many, especially her family whom she loved unconditionally. She was the widow of R.C.Durham and Harry Hamby, both WWII veterans. She was born on January 25, 1925 to George Washington Gattis and Maudie Mae Johnson Gattis in Tishomingo County, MS. She was a fine Christian lady.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; one son, Tommy Durham; granddaughter-in-law, Whitney Rice Durham; her parents; sisters, Hazel Dunkin McAlister (Andrew), Geraldine Bostick (Edward), Evelyn Poole (Jack) and Mildred Gasaway (Casey); brothers, Wilmer Gattis (Christine), Raymond Gattis (Jean) and Ben Gattis; half-siblings, Woodrow Gattis, Howard Gattis (Loda Bell), Lida Bell Lambert (Bell), Christine Dempsey (Johnny), Thomas Smith and Irene Neal (Johnny).
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons, Chad Durham, Britt Durham, Cody Durham, Casey Durham, Arden Hamilton, Aiden Quinn, Warner Durham and Japeth Durham.

Thomas Jesse “Tommy” Bacon, born August 3, 1950, passed away April 9, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Tommy never met a stranger, and he was a friend to all. He was known for his laughter and his kind heart. He enjoyed working in the yard and being on the lake with his family and friends.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Martha Sue Bacon; his daughters, Vicky Strickland (Tim), Robbie Strickland (Scott), Michael Walker (Angela), and Beth Walker; his sister, Ruby Butler; his brother-in-law, Ralph Farr; his grandchildren, Jessica Parson (Clay), Justin Strickland, Wesley Strickland (Erin), Jennifer Strickland, Brandy Haugh, Robert Walker (Brittany), James Walker (Danyelle), Luke Calton, and Brian Calton (Stephanie); 15 great-grandchildren; his nieces, Liz Young and Laura McKlveen; 3 great-nieces; and 1 great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Falls and Blanch Bacon; and his sister, Dorothy Farr.

Shirley Hardin, age 84, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2025.
Shirley was a member of the Allsboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jerry Hardin; her father, Forest Ray Shook; her stepfather, Lester Davis; her mother, Cecil Davis; and her brothers, Horace Ray Shook and Wayne Shook.
She is survived by her nephews, Todd (Jana) Shook, Brandt (Amy) Shook and Chad Shook (Saundra Briley); her niece, Melody Shook Senn (Billy); her great nephew, Maze (Carah) Shook; and her great-nieces, Paisley Shook and Laura Grace Shook. The family particularly appreciates Shirley’s friend and caretaker, Cindy Aguilar, for her dedicated assistance to Shirley.

Scooter (Marshall) Thompson
Scooter (Marshall) Thompson, 42, passed away on March 15, 2025, in the Philippines.
Born on May 20, 1982, in Florida, Scooter lived a life marked by adventure, generosity, and service. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy Reserves and Army National Guard.
Scooter had a deep love for fishing and loved being on the water. His passion for motorcycles reflected his adventurous spirit. In recent years, his adventures took him to the Philippines where he resided and built a life that included multiple meaningful relationships that he was known to cherish.
He is survived by his daughter, Millie Terry; his siblings, Theresa Parsons (Jason), Steve Thompson Jr. (Viktoriia), Stephanie Parsons (Bobby), and Brian Thompson (Jean); as well as his nephew Jacob Chatham and nieces Madison Ozan (Kyle), Stephanie Carter (Andrew), Alysen Crowden (Ben), and great niece Averil Goss. He was preceded in death by his father, Steve Thompson Sr.; his mother, Theresa Meeks; and his brother, A.J. Dillon.

Tommy M. Sanderson
IUKA, Miss – Tommy M. Sanderson, 70, of Iuka, Mississippi, died on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at North MS Medical Center in Iuka.
Tommy was a devout Christian that loved God deeply and found joy in sharing His word with anyone that would listen. He was an incredibly selfless man that helped others without expectation, just wanting everyone to be happy and love each other. His warm personality and talent for making people laugh brought joy to everyone that knew him. Tommy dedicated 27 years to working at Mississippi Polymers as an electrician before retiring. His strong work ethic showed in his everyday life, never being late for anything and always staying busy, whether it was on one of his daily trips to town or making sure his lawn stayed perfect. He was known for his classic style of Polo cologne, matching hats and shirts, and white tennis shoes, which he had a pair of for every occasion. In his free time, he enjoyed watching SEC sports and being on the water. Above everything, however, Tommy loved his family. He and his wife often enjoyed golfing together, always on the same team and never against each other. He and his grandchildren played in the yard or would go fishing, with him having to bait every hook and unhook every fish. He and his siblings would fellowship on the porch, enjoying each other’s company. His favorite memories included having the house full of his family, cutting up and spending time together. He was a proud family man and would do anything for any one of them.
Tommy is survived by his wife and beloved golf partner, Elizabeth Sanderson; his daughters, Jessica Freeman (Jason), Amanda Garrett (Ronnie), and Cassie Mills (Tanner); his grandchildren, Jackson and Eli Garrett, Tyler, Blake, and Camilla Freeman, Arabella Mares, and Davon and Danica Shelton; his great-grandchild, Nila Garrett; his siblings, Larry Sanderson (Wanda), Claudine Johnson (Roger), and Linda Blackaby (Don); his dearly loved pug, Pudgy; and a host of other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Aline Sanderson.
