Preamble:
Since 1883, The Tishomingo County News has been at the heart of the community. Today, we are strengthening our commitment by launching our charity label, Tishco Charity, dedicated to supporting local associations.
From now on, for every purchase made on our new website (advertising, subscriptions, etc.), 10% of the amount will be donated to an association. This year, we have selected the following associations:
United Way of Northeast Mississippi fights for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in Northeast Mississippi. Our mission is to create opportunities to improve lives in the communities we serve. We serve the 8-county region and currently invest in 56 nonprofit organizations that serve 125,000 individuals residing in these counties each year. We invest in programs and agencies in the areas of Academic Success, Family Stability, and Health & Wellness – the building blocks of a good life.
Mission: Our mission is to provide care to the abandoned animals of our community through a network of foster families. It is our goal to find families for each animal through local adoption or sending them to rescue.
Since 1975, the Special Olympics of Mississippi has been providing children and adults with intellectual disabilities with the opportunity to participate in sports and physical activities.
Mission: The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics Athletes and their communities.
Since 1998, the Helpful Samaritan Food Pantry has been providing nonperishable food items for the residents of Tishomingo County. Residents must go through an approval process for assistance.
Partner businesses will receive our charity label, which will be displayed on their digital and printed advertisements, symbolizing their commitment to our community. They will also receive an exclusive sticker to display in their storefront, affirming their support for local causes.
Each year, we will present a donation check to the selected associations.
